# Buy Now, Pay Later Payments

> How Afterpay, Affirm, and Klarna work in Newie.

## Overview

BNPL in Newie is a checkout payment method, not a separate service type. Customers can pay over time through the BNPL provider while Newie records the sale, fee, payout, and provider status.

## Where BNPL Applies

BNPL is for eligible **one-off purchases**.

Compare the payment flows:

| Option                    | Customer pays                                | You receive                                                                                           |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **BNPL** | Through Afterpay/Clearpay, Affirm, or Klarna | Funded upfront for the purchase amount, less applicable fees; bank payout still follows normal timing |
| **Newie Instalment Plan** | Each scheduled Newie instalment | Each instalment as it is collected |

Afterpay / Clearpay, Affirm, and Klarna each have their own country, currency, setup, and amount rules. Newie checks the current provider status while you edit the eligible One-Off Purchase.

  </Step>
</Steps>

Buy Now Pay Later has both an account-level setting and a service-level setting.

Card / Apple Pay and AU Bank Account are managed from **Accepted Payment Methods**.

## BNPL Provider Status

When BNPL is on for an eligible One-Off Purchase, Newie shows the current BNPL provider status in the service editor.

| Status                         | Meaning                                                              |
| ------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Available** | This provider can be offered for this service |
| **Not enabled** | This provider is not enabled on your account |
| **Pending action** | More Stripe setup is required |
| **Not available** | This provider is not available for your account |
| **Price too high (limit ...)** | The service price is above the current provider limit shown by Newie |

Newie checks current BNPL limits when you edit the service. If a BNPL provider limit changes, check the status shown in the service editor.

## BNPL Amount Limits

BNPL limits apply to eligible One-Off Purchases. The available provider can depend on your account country, service currency, customer country, Stripe setup, and the current provider status shown in Newie.

The tables below list limits for currencies Newie can currently sell services in. For seller country availability, see [Platform, Regions & Legal](/reference/platform-legal#supported-regions-and-countries).

Newie also applies an overall single-transaction hard cap of 20,000 in the service currency. A one-off purchase cannot exceed that cap even if a BNPL provider limit is higher.

Newie also applies a minimum transaction amount of 0.50 in the service currency. Where a BNPL provider minimum is lower than that, Newie's minimum applies.

### Afterpay / Clearpay

Afterpay / Clearpay is for eligible One-Off Purchases only. The customer and provider must be in the same country. In the UK, Afterpay is branded as Clearpay.
