# Integrations

> How Newie connects to other tools through Zapier and supported integrations.

## How Integrations Work

Zapier is Newie's self-serve integration path. It connects Newie events to the other apps a provider uses for delivery, onboarding, reporting, communication, CRM, and operations.

Most pages in this section are Zapier patterns. They show the Newie trigger to use, the third-party action to configure, and the points to check before turning the Zap on.

## Zapier Integrations

Zapier is a no-code automation tool that sends Newie events to other services. Set up the connection once, choose the Newie trigger, then choose the action in the other app.

Zapier works best when the workflow starts with something in Newie: a customer buys a service, a subscription starts, a payment becomes paid, or an invoice becomes overdue. Common actions include sending customer details to another app, creating a row, adding a tag, posting a message, sending an email, or starting onboarding.

### Connecting Newie to Zapier

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Connect Zapier in Newie">
    Open **Settings → Integrations → Connect Zapier**. If the row already says **Zapier Connected**, open that instead. Tap **Set Up** if Newie asks you to connect.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the API Token">
    Copy the **API Token**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a Zap">
    Go to [zapier.com](https://zapier.com) and create a new Zap.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Newie as the trigger app">
    Search for Newie as the trigger app.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect the token">
    Paste the API Token when prompted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the trigger event">
    Choose the Newie trigger that matches the workflow. Use **Subscription Created** for the initial subscription purchase, **Subscription Started** when paid subscription access begins, **One-Off Purchase Complete** for one-off purchases, and **Payment Paid** when the workflow needs confirmed payment. For BECS Direct Debit, Payment Paid fires after bank confirmation, not at initial payment submission.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the action">
    Configure the action in the connected app and confirm the required action fields are available in that connected Zapier account.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Zapier Events Reference

Newie provides Zapier triggers only. Use Newie as the trigger app, then configure the action in the connected app.

Triggers cover customer, subscription, purchase, and payment events. Newie does not send payout reports, payout batches, or payout fee breakdowns through Zapier. For payout reports and tax exports, use Payouts in Newie.

Third-party actions can vary by app version, account plan, permissions, and workspace setup. Treat the app-specific pages as patterns, then confirm the exact action and required fields inside the connected Zapier account before turning on the Zap.

#### Subscription Events

Sent when an event related to a subscription occurs. These events can also apply to instalment plan activity because instalment plans are powered by subscriptions.

| Trigger Name              | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| All Events - Subscription | Triggers when any event related to a subscription occurs. This can include relevant instalment plan activity where Zapier exposes it through subscription events. |
| Subscription Created | Triggers when the customer first purchases the subscription. It can fire before billing starts if the subscription has a future start date. This can also apply to instalment plan purchases where Zapier exposes the plan through subscription events. |
| Subscription Started | Triggers when subscription billing actually starts and the subscription becomes active. Best for subscription-backed paid access, including instalment plans, especially when a customer purchased earlier with a future start date. |
| Subscription Renewed | Triggers when a payment against a subscription invoice succeeds. Choose this for subscription-specific renewal workflows, including subscription-backed instalment plan activity. For accounting, fulfillment, or confirmed-payment workflows across all service types, use Payment Paid. |
| Subscription Paused | Triggers when a subscription is paused. |
| Subscription Ends | Triggers when a subscription moves into Expired, or when an instalment plan moves into Completed. It does not fire just because a cancellation has been scheduled. |

#### One-Off Purchase Events

Sent when an event related to a one-off purchase occurs.

| Trigger Name                  | Description                                                                |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| All Events - One-Off Purchase | Triggers when any one-off purchase event involving a customer takes place. |
| One-Off Purchase Complete     | Triggers when a customer makes a one-off purchase.                         |

#### Payment Events

Sent when a payment event occurs, regardless of whether the payment is for a one-off purchase, subscription, or instalment plan.

| Trigger Name          | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| All Events - Payments | Triggers when any visible payment event for a subscription, instalment plan, or one-off purchase occurs: Paid, Overdue, Skipped, Uncollectible, or Voided. It does not include Payment Created. |
| Payment Paid | Triggers when a payment is complete for a subscription, instalment plan, or one-off purchase. This is the general confirmed-payment trigger and is the best choice for accounting, fulfillment, receipts, and workflows that need confirmed money. For BECS Direct Debit, this fires when the bank confirms the payment and it moves from Pending/Processing to Paid, usually up to 3 business days after submission. |
| Payment Overdue | Triggers when an invoice for a subscription, instalment plan, or one-off purchase becomes overdue after payment has not been collected. |
| Payment Skipped | Triggers when a scheduled subscription invoice is created during a pause and marked as Paused. |
| Payment Uncollectible | Triggers when payment can no longer be collected after retry handling for a subscription, instalment plan, or one-off purchase. |
| Payment Voided | Triggers when an invoice or payment record is manually voided for a subscription, instalment plan, or one-off purchase. |

## Custom Integration Support

Contact Newie support when Zapier cannot expose the action you need, when a workflow needs code-level access, or when the business needs a supported native, partner, or custom setup.

Newie does not currently offer a public self-serve API.
