# Newie + Zoom

> Connect Newie with Zoom through Zapier.

## Overview

Zoom can handle the live session while Newie handles the payment. Zapier can register paying customers for the right meeting or webinar so they receive the join details when Zoom registration and email settings are configured.

## What You'll Need

* Newie connected to Zapier
* A Zoom account on a plan that supports the registration workflow you want to use. Webinar registration requires the Zoom Webinars add-on.
* A meeting or webinar already created in Zoom with registration enabled

## Common Zaps

**Subscription Started → Zoom registration**

When billing starts and the subscription becomes active, register the customer for the meeting tied to their service where the Zoom action and meeting settings support registration. Map email, first name, and last name.

**One-Off Purchase Complete → Zoom webinar registration**

For one-off paid workshops, register the buyer after purchase so Zoom can send the join email when the webinar action and email settings allow it.

**Subscription Renewed → Zoom registration refresh**

For recurring cohorts, re-register the customer each cycle if you rotate meeting IDs.

**Subscription Ends → Slack notification**

Notify yourself to review whether to revoke the customer's registration or remove them from a recurring series.

## Setup at a Glance

1. If you have not connected Newie yet, follow [Connecting Newie to Zapier](/integrations#connecting-newie-to-zapier) first.
2. In Zapier, create a new Zap and choose Newie as the trigger. Pick the trigger event (e.g. Subscription Started for subscription access, or One-Off Purchase Complete for one-off workshops).
3. Connect Zoom as the action app and authorize Zapier.
4. Choose Create Meeting Registrant or Create Webinar Registrant.
5. Select the specific meeting/webinar and map Newie email and name fields.
6. Test with a live Newie purchase, then turn on the Zap.

## Notes

* Make sure the Zoom meeting or webinar supports registration before turning on the Zap. Webinar registration requires the Zoom Webinars add-on.
* Zoom requires first and last name as two fields. Use Formatter by Zapier → Text → Split Text to break Newie's `full_name` into first name and last name.
* Registration and the relevant confirmation email settings must be turned on in Zoom before relying on Zoom to send join details.
