For a file the customer downloads, Newie can deliver the link. For a course, community or newsletter, use Newie for checkout and billing while your content platform manages the customer’s access.

Sell a downloadable file

  1. Open Sell → Services → New Service and choose One-Off Purchase.
  2. Enter the price and describe the file or resource bundle the customer receives, including its format and any software they need to use it.
  3. Choose Digital Download → Add and select the file. You can attach several files; Newie bundles them into a .zip download. See Digital Downloads for file-size limits.
  4. Add Terms of Service if customers need to accept usage or refund conditions. Add a Welcome Email if they need instructions for opening or using the resource.
  5. Turn on Available for Sale and save, then share the service link or add it to your Store.
The download link arrives in the New Purchase email, separate from any Welcome Email you configured. The email and download can be sent while a bank payment is still Processing. If the customer cannot find the link, have them check that email and their spam or junk folder.

Set the price for course or community access

Open Sell → Services → New Service and choose the payment arrangement the customer is buying:
  • One-Off Purchase: enter the full price for access paid upfront.
  • Instalment Plan: enter a fixed total, number of payments and billing period when the customer is paying off a course or program price.
  • Subscription: enter a price per billing period and set Number of Payments to Unlimited for a continuing membership. Use a fixed count for an agreed number of main-price payments; any Intro Pricing runs before them.
Describe which course, spaces or content are included and how long access lasts. Put any access, cancellation and refund conditions in Terms of Service. Paying off a course in instalments does not, by itself, mean course access should end with the final payment.

Arrange the invitation or enrollment

In your course or community platform, arrange access to the content the customer bought. You can add the customer yourself or configure an integration if the platform supports it. Use Newie’s Welcome Email to explain what happens next: follow an invitation, look out for a separate enrollment email or sign in to an existing account. Include the relevant link and say when manually arranged access will be ready. A generic login link does not create an account or grant access. For a configured automation, Newie + Zapier explains how to connect the accounts and limit the workflow to the right service. Choose the trigger to match when you intend to grant access: In the destination app’s action, map the customer’s email from Newie and select the course or membership access they purchased. Use an action that grants that access, rather than simply adding the person to a contact list. Payment Paid also runs for renewals, instalments and separately collected Setup Fees. If access must wait for the first regular payment, check that invoice in Newie before granting access; the trigger does not identify Setup Fees with a dedicated flag. Add the repeat-action check so later payments do not create another account or send another invitation for the same purchase. When pricing and the access process are ready, turn on Available for Sale and save. The service link takes customers to checkout for that course or membership.

Confirm the customer can reach the content

For a download, open the emailed link and confirm the delivered files can be used as described. For hosted content, follow the invitation through signing in and opening the purchased course or community. Check from a customer account, since an administrator may be able to see content ordinary members cannot. If you use a real Newie purchase for this check, it can collect payment. Cancel any test subscription you do not intend to keep, remove test access in the content platform and follow Refunds to return a collected test payment.

Handle membership changes in both systems

Manage the customer’s billing in Newie and their content access in the course or community platform. A Welcome Email or invitation does not keep the two in sync when a membership pauses or ends. If you automate removal, use the agreed access end date and the appropriate event. Subscription Ends fires when billing actually ends, including when an instalment schedule finishes. Before removing access, check whether the customer has lasting course access or another active purchase that includes the same content. Newie + Zapier explains this event in detail.
