Overview

Payouts are how collected money moves from the Newie balance to the provider’s bank account. Newie separates clearing funds, available funds, scheduled bank deposits, instant payout options, and the records behind each transfer.

Payout Balances

The Payouts screen shows a total Balance, then splits it into Clearing and Cleared. If Cleared is negative, it may be because of a recent refund or adjustment.

How Payout Timing Works

Some customer payments need time before they become payout-ready.
1

A customer pays

The payment succeeds in Newie.
2

Funds appear as Clearing

Newie shows the funds as Clearing while they become available for scheduled payout.
3

Funds move to Cleared

Once the clearing period finishes, funds move to Cleared.
4

Newie sends the payout

Cleared funds are paid out on the next available payout day for your schedule.
Changing your payout schedule changes when cleared funds are sent. It does not make a new customer payment clear faster. New accounts can have an initial payout waiting period before the first scheduled payout is sent. This first-payout period is account-specific and can be longer than the normal payout schedule. After it ends, payouts follow your configured schedule and normal payment-clearing timing.

Payout Schedules

Newie supports standard automatic payout schedules. For weekly payouts, choose a weekday. For monthly payouts, choose a day of the month. If the selected monthly day does not exist in a shorter month, Newie schedules the payout for the last day of that month instead. If a scheduled payout falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payout moves to the next available business day. Banks may also take extra time to make a sent payout available.

Instant Payouts

Instant Payouts let eligible providers send instant-available funds to their connected payout account before the next scheduled payout. In Newie, the action is called Payout Now. It appears on the Payouts screen when Instant Payouts are available for your account currency. Payout Now can only complete an Instant Payout when all of the following are true:
  • Your payout account is active.
  • Your account is eligible for Instant Payouts.
  • Your payout bank account supports Instant Payouts.
  • You have funds marked as instant-available.
  • The amount is within the minimum and maximum shown in Newie.
If the payout cannot be started, Newie either opens the ineligible Instant Payout information screen or shows Instant Payout Unavailable with the reason it cannot proceed. To take an Instant Payout, open Payouts, tap Payout Now, enter an amount within the available range, review the payout amount, destination, and fee, then confirm. Newie shows the Instant Payout fee before you confirm. Standard scheduled payouts avoid this fee. For the current fee table, see the Fees & Limits Reference. Instant-available funds are not always the same as your Cleared balance. Newie uses Stripe payout availability to decide what can be paid instantly. Stripe determines which bank accounts support Instant Payouts. Use Stripe’s current supported-bank list when bank coverage matters: Stripe Instant Payouts supported banks.

Payout Reports

Open the Payouts report in Settings to download payout reports as CSV or PDF.
  • On iOS, open Settings -> Reporting -> Reports -> Payouts.
  • On macOS, open Settings -> Reports -> Payouts.
For tax, accounting, fees, or reconciliation, start with payout reports rather than sales exports. When you need the detail behind one bank deposit, open Payouts, select the payout, then tap Download. Newie does not send payout reports through Zapier, Xero, or QuickBooks. Export payout reports directly from Newie.

Where to Manage Payouts

Payout account settings are available after payout setup is active. On iOS and macOS, Payout Account is under Settings -> Payments & Payouts. Newie opens Stripe Express with Continue in Stripe when you need to update Stripe account details, identity details, business details, or payout bank account details.

Common Payout Questions

Check whether the funds are still in the Clearing Balance. Bank debit payments can take longer to process before they become payout-ready.
Check the in-app message. Common causes include eligibility, bank support, no instant-available funds, amount limits, or a processing error.
Check the payout schedule, weekends, public holidays, first-payout hold, Stripe verification, and clearing status.
Open Payout Account in settings, or open Payouts -> More -> Manage Payout Schedule. This changes when cleared funds are sent.
Open Payout Account in settings, or open Payouts -> More -> Manage Payout Account, then continue to Stripe Express.
No. Stripe accounts are country-specific. The payout bank account must match your Stripe account country. If you need payouts in another country, you need a new Newie account.
Newie does not issue traditional payslips. Use payout reports, payout summaries, statement exports, or individual payout reports as supporting records.
