Overview

Tap to Pay is the in-person checkout path for the Newie iOS app. It lets a customer pay contactlessly on a supported iPhone instead of opening a payment link.

In-Person Contactless Payment

Tap to Pay lets you accept in-person contactless payments from the Newie iOS app on a supported iPhone. No card reader or extra hardware is required. Tap to Pay works from eligible one-off purchases, subscriptions, and instalment plans. Tap to Pay is iOS-only. For assisted checkout without in-person contactless payment, use Purchase as Customer from the iOS or macOS app.

Before You Use Tap to Pay

Tap to Pay must be enabled before it can be used. After your profile is fully complete and Stripe is connected, Newie can prompt setup from the Home screen. You can dismiss that prompt and enable Tap to Pay later from Settings, or enable it directly from the service share flow.

Start Tap to Pay

Open Services

Open Sell → Services in the Newie iOS app.

Open the service menu

Tap the ... menu next to the service.

Choose Tap to Pay

Tap Tap to Pay.

Complete the payment

Follow the prompts until Newie confirms the payment and finishes the checkout flow.
When Newie shows an existing customer match during checkout, use it if it is the right customer. That keeps the purchase, subscription, instalment plan, and receipt history attached to the same customer record.

Payment Methods

Tap to Pay accepts supported contactless cards and digital wallets. If a customer cannot complete Tap to Pay, try another supported card or Apple Pay, or send the service link instead. For subscriptions and future-start subscriptions, complete every step shown after the contactless payment succeeds. The payment step and the subscription setup step both need to finish before the customer record is complete. Last updated: 2026-06-26
